Electro-Voice Esquire 200A

Electro-Voice Esquire 200A - 1959 3 Way HiFi Speaker Pair

Here is a clean, pair of 1959 Electro-Voice Esquire 200A speakers—classic American hi-fi from the golden era.

These were purpose-built for the Esquire line and carry the unmistakable late-50s EV character: open, efficient, and dynamic with excellent midrange presence. If you’re building a period-correct early stereo system, these are the real deal.

Condition

  • All Original 1959 Components

  • Woofers professionally reconed by Speaker Recone Center of Colorado

  • Some fraying on the original grill cloth (purely cosmetic, see pictures)

  • Cabinets show normal age-appropriate wear

  • Fully Functional

The recones were done specifically for the Esquire line, preserving the original voicing and efficiency these systems were known for. They play strong, clean, and balanced.

Why They Matter

Electro-Voice was one of the premier American loudspeaker manufacturers of the 1950s. The Esquire series was designed to deliver big, room-filling sound from relatively compact enclosures—ideal for tube hi-fi amplifiers from the same era.

Expect:

  • Fast, articulate mids

  • Amazing vocal presentation

  • Smooth top end without harshness

  • Excellent efficiency for low-watt tube amps

Perfect for pairing with vintage American tube gear—think late-50s mono blocks or early stereo setups.

For modern listening, a subwoofer is recommended.
