Made in Great Britain throughout the 50's and 60's, Mullard valves are regarded by many as the best vacuum tubes ever made. They are legendary for their tonal complexities, balance, low noise floor, and longevity. Rivaled only by Telefunken (for audio applications).
Mullard 12AX7's are a high gain tube with a very low noise floor. These two qualities make them great for vintage high wattage amplifiers (or clones).
At Fuzz Audio we consider Mullard 12AX7's a must for any vintage Marshall, VOX or Orange amplifier. Not only because they were found stock in these amps originally but because they are unique to the British amp sound with lots of mids, while maintaining a balanced bottom and top end.
It is no coincidence that British tubes and amps are both mid centric. Mullard tubes are an integral part of the vintage British amp sound. Because Mullards have lots of mids, so to did the Marshall amplifiers they were put in. This fact is also true for American made tubes and amps. American tubes are bass and treble heavy, and so too are the vintage amps that relied on American tubes.

If you are picky about owning an original box or wanting a specific logo please reach out to us before purchasing.
Logos: Vintage tubes have a wide variety of logos printed on them. It is not uncommon to see a Mullard made tube with an RCA or GE logo, or a GE made tube with a Mullard logo. Your tube may come with a logo such are Heath Kit, Baldwin, Fisher, Hammond, Magnavox, Fender, Gibson, Silvertone, etc. but the true manufacturer of that tube will be correct to your order. If you are looking for a specific logo please reach out before purchase.
